Reece and Kirsten’s wedding day was a pleasure and privilege to be a part of from start to finish. The weather was in the high 70’s and sunny all day—a phenomenon for March in Kansas! Their venue Stone Hill Barn complemented the elegance and ease that characterized every aspect of the day. Photographing all of the sweet moments, interactions and details was a delight, and this was a wedding that reminded me moment by moment why I am so passionate about portraiture. The love and care with which Reece and Kirsten treated one another, their family, friends and hired professionals was reflective of their passion for loving others well, and ultimately a representation of the Lord. From Reece making a Starbucks run for the wedding party to Kirsten’s genuine desire to ensure that those around her were taken care of on her wedding day, this couple simply loves others well and didn't hesitate to do so on their wedding day.
Reece and Kirsten, thank you for trusting me to document your day. Thank you for allowing me to experience it alongside you, to laugh, to coordinate, to watch your day unfold. I hope that these images do justice to the incredible day that your wedding was.

What a pleasure it was to shoot Brock and Bianca's engagement photos in the windy city two weekends ago! Post-processing these images was a wonderful reminder of how light-hearted and joy-filled these two are -- even when being blown away by Chicago's wind! Bianca had so many incredible ideas for locations to shoot at (which I was so grateful for, being a native of Kansas) and they all turned out beautifully, and Brock was never missed a beat with hailing taxis and ordering Uber's. Brock and Bianca, thank you for letting me explore Chicago with you and also for making my job oh so easy!

On Friday, December 23rd, at the Botanica Gardens Illuminations Display, Tyler had comprised a beautiful surprise plan by which he would propose to his girlfriend, Alexis. After scouting out an array of possible locations at which he could propose, Tyler and I met up to finalize the best possible location for him to propose. We ironed out the necessary logistics (I was amazed at how much time and thought he had put into making this not only a seamless event, but also surprise for Alexis), and everything was set for the 23rd.
On that night, the last night that Botanica's Illuminations Display was open, the gardens was filled with a sea of Wichitan's enjoying the Christmas season. The area that Tyler had selected for his proposal was a particularly population location (due to perhaps the height of the beautiful Christmas tree, paired with its being synchronized to the Chrismtas music being played). When Tyler, his daughter, and Alexis arrive to this spot, Tyler suggested --nonchalantly-- hopping the "fence" of Christmas lights and taking a photo of them closer to the tree. They all went along with the idea, and while they were taking the photo, Alexis' best friends came out from behind the tree with a sign saying, "Will you marry me?" As you can well guess, by the time Alexis turned around from seeing the sign Tyler was on one knee, and she said yes to what I would daresay was her favorite Christmas present this year. I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story that comes with this beautiful moment, but I just wanted to thank Tyler and Alexis for allowing me to be a part of it.

December engagement sessions are always a favorite of mine, and this was especially true for Doug and Melissa’s engagement session last week! We began their winter-themed shoot at a tree farm that Doug’s family has procured their Christmas tree from for the last couple of years. While there we were able to take an array of sweet photos, framed in the green pines and the patches of lingering snow. After concluding the first part of their session, we headed toward Coronado Heights (my new favorite location to shoot!). Upon arriving I was delighted to find that not only were we the only individuals at the summit (the one “summit” of flat Kansas!), but also that we had the most perfect weather…a gorgeous sunset, 50 degree weather and no wind were an incredible gift! Even more beautiful than the views at Coronado Heights was the evident love and respect that Melissa and Doug have for one another. I hope that that is what truly shows in their photos!

Reece and Kirsten. Where do I even begin? The photos from their session are some of my favorite that I've ever taken. This I think is in part owing to the fact that the locations we shot at were incredible--Prairie Pines and the stunning Cornado Heights. But I think what made their photos so great was the love between them that is so easily observable. It's evident that they are each as individuals confident and whole, and out of this wholeness they love one another so well. It was a delight to spend a few hours with them in conversation and in observation of how they cherish with one another.
Reece and Kirsten, thank you for letting me capture a tiny sliver of your relationship. It's truly beautiful, and oh so easy to photograph!!

Last Sunday, October 30th 2016, Andrew, with the help of both family and friends, was setting up the details that would make up the most beautiful proposal I've witnessed. Along a wooded path that seemed to be glowing with the golden colors of fall, he placed candles and hundreds of rose petals. Slightly off the path were photos documenting their relationship of almost-six years, accompanied by hand-written letters. These were clothes-pinned to twine that had been strung between trees. Beneath each letter was a rose for Sarah to take as she progressed down the path, so that by the time she had read the last letter, she had a full bouquet.
Within the clearing at the bottom of the path Andrew had formed a heart from red rose petals, which he would be standing in as Sarah made her way down to him. The clearing was outlined with rose petals, candles, and two close friends who would be playing their guitars throughout the proposal.
As the time neared for her to arrive, Andrew rushed about re-lighting candles, double-checking to make sure he had the ring and ensuring that every detail was as perfect as it could be. Anxious for the upcoming moments, I watched him wring his hands together and eagerly check his phone for updates on Sarah's ETA. And when he saw her at the top of the path, all angst seemed to disappear and was replaced with a smile that was almost bigger than his face.
While Sarah took the time to carefully read every word Andrew had written, the sweet sounds of the guitar filled the crisp fall air...it was a beautiful, beautiful moment. And as she finished reading the last letter, she made her way to Andrew. My heart was just overflowing as I watched him speak sweet words to her before going down on one knee--but not before he asked Sarah to unlatch the ring box for him because of his sweaty hands!
What followed the proposal was a celebration with close friends and family, and, of course, photos of Andrew and Sarah. It was such a delight and honor to be a part of this beautifully planned moment, as well as to witness the overflowing love and affection that Andrew and Sarah have for one another. I hope that these photos reflect this incredible day. Enjoy!
